Two New Members Join IntraHealth’s Board of Directors

Chapel Hill, NC

IntraHealth International is pleased to welcome two new members to our board of directors. Michele Moloney-Kitts and Jean Philbert Nsengimana bring new expertise in maternal and child health, family planning, HIV, youth, digital health, and more.

“We’re incredibly excited that Michele and Jean Philbert are joining our board and grateful for the immense and diverse expertise they bring,” says Polly Dunford, IntraHealth’s president and CEO. “Jean Philbert’s longstanding focus on youth, technology, and the future of Africa will be invaluable to IntraHealth. And Michele’s expertise in Maternal/Child Health, Family Planning and HIV will contribute greatly to IntraHealth’s technical leadership. Also, as a nurse-midwife by training, she knows what it means to be a health worker on the front lines care. They are exactly the right people to join us as we lead IntraHealth into a strong future.”

Global public health expert Moloney-Kitts is the founding director of Together for Girls and a former US foreign service officer. She is also a nurse-midwife by training.

Moloney-Kitts has served as the deputy assistant secretary and director of the Program Service Division of the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator, as the Southern Africa senior HIV/AIDS senior technical advisor for the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and director of the Family Planning Services Division at USAID. “IntraHealth is celebrating forty strong years of commitment to health workers,” says Jean Gilson, cochair of IntraHealth’s board of directors. “And they’ve been tireless advocates for women in the health workforce, especially nurses and midwives. So it’s fitting that we are adding a nurse-midwife to the highest level of leadership in the organization. The expertise both Michele and Jean Philbert bring will be tremendous.”
